Can I Transfer My Family Sponsored Visa to a Company Visa?

I am 23 of Indian Nationality and currently on Mother’s visa. My mother is a Bahraini nationality and my passport is with her custody. I am currently facing family issues at home, aggressive and physically abusive by my younger brother. My parents who verbally put me down and very negative as well as dealing with work stress. I am highly depressed due to the negativity at home which has been going on for years.
Am I legally able to have custody of my passport, cancel my current visa sponsored by my mother and go on company visa?

Answer: In strictly legal terms a person’s passport belongs to the government which has issued it. It has been entrusted to the person by the government for safe custody. As a result, it is illegal for anyone to retain custody of someone else’s passport without the consent of the owner of the passport.
Since you are of legal age in UAE, you have the right to cancel your current visa and move to another visa.
