I am a healthcare worker due to the current situation my position became redundant. I have the following dues:   

Auto loan-Dubai Islamic bank-Out standing amount -37000 AED 

Dubai First(FAB)Credit card -4800 aed 

ADCB(salary account) Credit card -2500 AED   

Totally Outstanding -Less than 50000 Aed   

Incase If I m becoming defaulter, have following queries: 

1. What will be the next step from the bank? 

2.Incase If I want to go for the settlement with the bank through the court what will be the procedure? 

3.Incase If the court awards me fine how much percentage it could impose fine with respect to my above outstanding?   

4. How much time it could take for the whole settlement process through the court proceeding in general (Apprx 3 months or more than that I know you might be busy with a lot such enquires, but I really urge and request to help me with some information which would help me to come out of the great street I’m going through.

Answer: 

Please be informed that the act of writing a cheque, which would eventually be dishonored is considered a crime. If the criminal case is registered within the Emirate of Dubai, the Prosecution may pass a decision to punish the accused with a fine should the amount of the dishonored cheque not exceed AED200,000/- Such rules may also be applicable in other Emirates subject to the discretion of the Prosecution. The exact amount of fine is subject to the discretion of the Prosecution and the value of the bounced cheque. Moreover, the opposite party may still file a civil case to claim the outstanding amount. Failure to pay outstanding liabilities can, among others, result in travel restrictions by the court.
